Touching Spirit Bear

In eighth grade English, our teacher assigned us a book, Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen. The book takes place in present day in the great Northwest/Alaska/Canada area. It's about a troubled teen who severely injures one of his peers in a school fight. The boy is given a choice to spend some time in a detention center or be exiled for some months on an island in Alaska. Cole, the main character believes he can easily go through this with no "real" punishment or even escape the island. He is confronted by the Spirit Bear and almost beaten to death. While reading this part of the book I had to stop because it was too much or somewhat graphic for me the way the author describes his beating. After his confrontation he ends up in the hospital. Cole slowly begins to change deep down inside because of some physical struggles he goes through on the island. I don't really want to spoil the book or anything, but really I don't feel like typing much more.
Well to conclude even though this book is simply written, it changed my outlook on people. It showed me that no matter how bad a person is there is always room for change and forgiving.

Job

Well I finally got a job working at Atlanta Bread Company. So far it's been three days. Not bad. I'm pretty much learning a lot. I learned about the cash register and cleaning crap like that. Customers are really specific. I think I've gotten the hang of everything now. At the same time I'm learning about the social aspects of humans. How when couples come in, sometimes their partners choice influences their choice of food. Or maybe I'm just over analyzing this. Guys tend to be less specific about their food and women seem more picky. I'm NOT saying this is FACT. Because it's not. This is just what has happened in the three very long days I've been working. This paycheck shall be sweet.

Ah December

Well it's December and in Charleston it's still not cold. I'm disappointed. Any who school work is stacking up, since I took that vacay to Washington DC. Grades might slip..oh well. I'll be fine right? I should probably start getting in shape for track season. Today Jessica and I went running. It sort of reminded me of how much I suck yet, it also reminded me that I have a lot of room to improve. I'll get better. A lot of times I worry, but in the end everything will be fine.
Running gives me a challenge. It's not like volleyball or basketball where I'm doing the sport physically. Running is different. You challenge yourself mentally-- I antagonize myself mentally and at the same time I'm encouraging too. I want to be a better runner because they are the most free athletes. You don't need "equipment" to run. You just need yourself; okay maybe shoes but they are not necessarily necessary to run. The first track practice is January 28th. Hopefully I'll be ready for that.
As for my job search.. I scheduled an interview with Atlanta Bread Company tomorrow (Thursday) at 3. That very same day I have a band concert at 7, but I have to be there at 6. Busy, Busy. jeez.
Well that's life for now.
